Would You Tint Your Ta Tas?

GoodForLadies - Chances are you've heard of Benefit's classic rosy lip and cheek stain, Benetint, before. But, you likely don't know the slightly-scandalous reason it even exists, and neither did we until this week.
In telling us about their new mango-hued stain, Chachatint (coming out in July), Benefit let us in on the secret behind Benetint—it was originally made in the 70s for an exotic dancer who needed something to "enhance her nipples while dancing." Um, what?!
At first, we thought this was hilariously crazy, but then realized it would actually come in handy post-spray tan. Anyone who's ever been sprayed knows it turns everything (yes, even your nips) tan. The way we see it, a dab of Benetint on your ta tas is way less painful than scrubbing your nips back to their natural hue.

How to Take Off Crazy-Waterproof Makeup

Posted by Jandika 8:43 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - We are huge fans of liquid eyeliner—and the only thing better than liquid liner is waterproof liquid liner. Once you get that cat-eye just right, you don't want it going anywhere until you're done for the night (or the next morning!). But on the flip side, sometimes when you're ready to wipe it all away, it's easier said than done. So we caught up with Stila makeup artist Sarah Lucero to find out what she uses to undo her work. "You need a really good makeup remover," explains Sarah. "LancĂ´me makes a great one that you shake. Another one I like is by the brand Klorane—it's creamy and feels really great when you apply it. I've been using it backstage at fashion shows for years."
Another great use for eye makeup remover, says Sarah, is to put a dab of it on a Q-Tip to clean up smudges when you’re creating the look to begin with.

Wearing Two Eyeshadow Colors

Posted by Jandika 4:03 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - The world of makeup can be a somewhat hard and confusing place. Sometimes whatever you’re trying to do works, and sometimes you fail miserably. Either way, it’s all with trial and error that you learn to perfect yourmakeup techniques. Now that summer’s upon us, we can start experimenting with an array of different colors and styles.
One of my favorite things to do is to combine two different colored eyeshadows together. I’m not talking about blending in different shades of the same color, but actually using two distinct colors that can be seen as two different colors on your eyelids.
Before you do this, you must realize what colors go with your hair color and skin tone. If you’re fair, stay away from dark, dramatic colors as it can be too big of a contrast. Try going for a green and yellow combination, as it works on almost any skin tone.
Apply the green eyeshadow (sea-foam green, nothing too crazy!) to the inner corner of your eyelids, and follow with the yellow eyeshadow on the outer corner. It might look funny at first, but you’ll get the hang of it, and you will absolutely love wearing two different eyeshadow colors!eyeshadow.jpg

Mineral Makeup

Posted by Jandika 4:02 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadiesAlthough mineral makeup has been around for a good 30 years now, it’s only now that the cosmetic and fashion industry is embracing this new makeup formula. Mineral makeup is simply amazing because it’s good for your skin, unlike most other makeups. It’s hypoallergenic, which is great for sensitive skin and it does not contain any alcohol, perfume, dyes, or preservatives.
One of the best reasons to switch to mineral makeup is because it’s basically good for you skin, especially if your skin is sensitive. Regular makeup can cause dryness, irritation and acne, while mineral makeup lets your skin breathe and doesn’t cause any of those problems.
Mineral makeup also feels light on your face. It doesn’t feel like a mask. With mineral makeup you’ll feel a light coverage, but at the same time a beautiful, translucent, natural glow.
On top of that, mineral makeup contains minerals that are good for your skin such as zing, magnesium, titanium and aluminum which rejuvenate your skin.Mineral makeup also offers protection from UVA and UVB rays.
It’s also great to cover up any redness, wrinkless or imperfections because it has a light, flawless coverage and doesn’t look “caked on” unlike other makeup.
Lastly, you can even sleep with the mineral makeup on because the ingredients are so healthy for your skin. So if you’re ever in a rush in the morning, just apply your makeup at night, and you’re all set to go!Mineral Makeup

Get Rid of Large Pores

Posted by Jandika 4:02 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - Pores are just annoying. The problem is that if you don’t treat them as soon as they appear, they get larger and larger. Especially if you have dry skin, enlarged pores can look even worse.Mineral Makeup
You can start minimizing your pores  by using a daily facial scrub such as St. Ives  Apricot Cleanser which goes deep into the skin to scrub and get rid of dirt as well as prevent breakouts.
Don’t use any makeup which can clog your pores. If possible, use mineral or hypoallergenic makeup.  This will help you in your process of minimizing your pores. Get rid of all the makeup and products that you think might have a bad effect on your skin.
Facials are a very important part of your skin care routine. Choose a pore minimizing facial mask and use it once a week. Don’t forget to use a light moisturizer after.
You can also use microdermabrasion as there are a lot of options out there, including numerous pore minimizing products.  And of course, you can always use skin-friendly makeup to hide your imperfections.

Summer Lipstick Shades

Posted by Jandika 4:01 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - Get ready to glow this summer because some of the hottest lipstick shades are coming right to you! Because red was so popular all throughout the winter, we will see a lot of hot fuschias, magentas, and frosted pinks. Also, a lot of neutrals with just a hint of gloss.
The fuschia colors will go great on anyone that can also wear bright red shades as well. It will accentuate the lips, making them look full, vibrant and youthful. Make sure that when you wear fuschia lipstick, you minimize your eye makeup as much as possible as to not over do it.
The magenta colors will be all over the place this summer, and will be a great accessory to an evening outfit, bringing out the colors and making everything look more radiant. Although it can be a tricky color to wear, just make sure that it suits your skin tone and that it doesn’t look overpowering.
For those of you that like to keep it nice and simple, neutrals are the best in town. Pale, rose lipsticks are perfect for the natural look, while frosted pinks give a little edge, but still maintaining its simplicity.lipstick.jpg

Summer Beauty Fixes

GoodForLadies - During the summer months, there is no worse enemy than heat and humidity. You know those hot, sticky days where everything melts and your hair looks like it’s been soaked in water even though you just left the house looking all fresh and perfect? Well I do, and I say there has to be a solution for that! Read on to find out how you can prevent sticky hair and melting makeup.
PREVENT STICKY HAIR IN THE SUMMER
Your hair goes limp in the hot summer months, so avoid this by including a little something extra in your hair routine. Use an aerosol spray on your roots before heading out the door. This will ensure your hair holds up and give it a little volume. You can also use hair powder so you soak up any excess moisture. Another trick you can use is to dab your neck with toner so you eliminate the oil and moisture that builds up around the area. For frizzy hair, make sure you always use a hair serum or any anti-frizz product; they DO work!hair serum
MELTING MAKEUP
We all this problem: you put your makeup on in the morning, but by the afternoon, it’s all gone. It’s like a magic trick! Have an oil blotter at your fingertips to absorb the sweat, without ruining your makeup. Use makeup primer instead of lotion on your face, as this will absorb any oil and make sure to add a little extra on trouble spots such as your nose, chin and forehead. Always apply a powder after you put on your foundation. This will ensure that your makeup stays on a little longer all the while sucking up the excess oil. And of course the number one rule is to go easy on the products; keep it light and simple and you should have no problems!face powder

Summer Makeup

Posted by Jandika 4:00 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - With winter almost gone, we can start shedding some of those dark, depressing colors. No more blacks, dark blues, or any other dark color for anything including clothes, nails, and makeup. Once summer comes along, think of everything as showing its colors, and so should you. Take out anything bright and cheery and wear it, because that’s what it’s all about.
This summer keep your makeup bright and simple. Start by applying a light moisturizer all over your face and neck. Rub gently in circular motions to get the blood flowing to your face. If you need to, apply a concealer under your eyes and to any other problem areas. Finish off with a very light, matte foundation. To do this, wet a makeup sponge and apply sparingloy, as to get a light coverage (depending on your skin of course). For your makeup to stay in place, dab a pressed powder over your face.
During the summer, you want that peachy, rosy glow that only the sun can give you. Try a bronzer in a peach or rosy tone and use a big brush to swipe on your cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. These are areas that the sun first hits, so it will look natural.
For the eyeshadow steer away from dark colors . Instead open your eyes with a light lavender, peach, light green or blue, whatever you choose as long as it suits your skin tone. For a more dramatic effect, you can use two or more colors to blend them in. Use your finger to apply the color to your eyelids, finishing just at the crease. Blend that color in with a lighter color that you will apply sparingly up to the brow bone. Finish off with a coat of black or brown mascara.
Keep your lips light by using a peach gloss. Use a lip liner if you wish; make sure it’s not too pronounced and is just one shade darker than your lip color.

How to Prevent Makeup Meltdown

Posted by Jandika 3:59 PM, under | No comments

GoodForLadies - It’s hard to keep up with your makeup in the summer, especially if it’s a scorcher…such as now! My theory is that when it gets too hot, makeup can go down a notch, and all you have to do is keep it simple! But of course a lot of us just can’t resist putting on a little blush and foundation because let’s face it no one wants to look all blotchy and uneven. So how can you prevent makeup meltdown during the summer?
For a fast fix, you can use an oil blotter to absorb the sweat where it shows without wrecking your makeup. This will ensure that all excess oil is absorbed and will hold you off for a while. Try not to dab too much as it can obviously remove your makeup after a while.
To prevent makeup meltdown from happening, rub on makeup primer as your skin lotion. It’ll smooth any creases on your face, and gel formulas will cool your skin on contact considerably, giving you a cool, fresh feeling when rubbed on. And of course this will wick away an oil you might have on.
The next step is to make your foundation work a little harder than it’s used to! The new whipped formulas go on superlight but last all day, without settling into your pores and making you break out. Top it off with a light dustingpowder that absorbs perspiration.
And of course you should all know that mid-summer is not the time to go crazy on the products. Remember to keep things simple. Skip the cream-based eyeshadows since they smear and tend to leave creases like crazy. Instead, try blending a navy or olive eyeliner out from the bases of your eyelashes and over your lids. The wax will help the color stay put.  Coat on a waterproof mascara or just dab a little bit of clear lip balm on your lashes to make them glisten!
