Eyebrow Threading: Yay or Nay?

Posted by Jandika 11:06 PM, under | No comments

So a few weeks ago I went to get my eyebrows threaded and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! I usually just pluck my own eyebrows because I hate waiting in between..the strays just drive me crazy, but I thought I’d give it a shot anyways.
All I can say is…wow! My brows have never looked better. I’ve had them waxed at professional salons before, but nothing compared to the threading! I must admit it hurt a little bit…ok, A LOT, at one point I thought I was going to cry then pass out. But, that went away in just a few seconds, so don’t let that scare you..it’s totally worth it!
It is a little bit more expensive than waxing though, I paid $12…well $15 with the tip, whereas a wax is only $5, so it’s actually triple. But, if you have eyebrow threading available in your area, I suggest you go out and do it. They do such an amazing job and the shape is just amazing. So I say yaaay! to eyebrow threading. What are your thoughts on it?

5 Ways to Get Rid of a Pimple

Posted by Jandika 11:06 PM, under | No comments

Pimples…they come at the best of times, don’t you think so? Usually when you have a big event coming up, or you’re sleeping over at your man’s and you wake up with some rather unflattering red bumps. In either case, pimples are a nuisance and we need to put a stop to them NOW! Can you tell I’m enraged? I woke up this morning to a nice surprise on my face, but, thankfully I have my tools ready! Here are 5 ways to get rid of a pesky pimple…stat!
1. Benzyol Peroxide
…is my best friend! I carry this little tube of miracles in my bag all the time. Just apply to the pimple and it will greatly reduce the size and redness in no time.
2. Ice, Ice, Baby
Ok, so I’ve been watching Glee too much, but ice is actually a great way to reduce those massive surprise pimples. Just put some ice in a baggy and hold it against the pimple for about 10 minutes. This is actually called freezing a pimple..take that!
3. Toothpaste
This trick is as old as they get, but just make sure you use white toothpaste and not the blue, swirly kind because it won’t work as well. Usually the toothpaste on the pimple trick works best when you apply it at night and sleep on it…it’ll dry it right out!
4. Drying Cream
One of my favorite products in the world is Mario Badescu’s Drying Cream because it works miracles. Not only is this cream a lifesaver when it comes to minimizing pimples in record time, but it also works amazingly as a pimple concealer. So you can wear it underneath your foundation, making it almost non-existant,  while it is doing its job of drying out the pimple…genius!
5. Tea Bag
Tea bags are another excellent way to reduce the size and redness of a pimple. Just boil some water, dip a tea bag in it (green tea works best), let it steep, and apply the tea bag to the pimple.

The Tea Tree Oil Challenge

Posted by Jandika 11:05 PM, under | No comments

I’m sure you guys have heard about tea tree oil and its amazing properties before, but I decided to take on a tea tree oil challenge to see how great it really is and if it actually lives up to its hype or not!
If you don’t know, tea tree oil is basically an oil that is taken from tea tree leaves and has amazing beneficial medical properties, including cosmetic uses. So what do I use it for? So far, I’ve only used tea tree oil on my face because I break out a lot, and I still haven’t really found anything that works yet.
So far,I’ve been using tea tree oil for about a week and a half…so here’s the verdict! Although I can’t say I see a real difference yet (I probably have to use it for longer), I have noticed after I apply the oil to my breakouts, they do recede. So far I haven’t seen the tea tree oil get rid of my acne scars but again, I probably haven’t been using it long enough. But if I had to recommend a product that gets rid of scars, discoloration, redness, etc it would have to be Bio Oil.
So I think I’m going to keep on with the tea tree oil challenge for a bit longer, and hopefully I’ll see more positive results. On a negative note, tea tree oil does not smell good…at all. Other than that, it’s definitely something you should have in your bathroom cabinet. You can find tea tree oil at any drugstore or click on the picture to order!
