Make Your Own Cranberry Lip Gloss

Posted by Jandika 11:12 PM, under | No comments

There’s nothing funner for me than getting a bunch of my girlfriends together and whipping up fast and easy homemade beauty recipes. We do everything from crazy face masks, to nail polishes, to moisturizers, etc. And, since my last “make your own lipgloss” post seemed to generate so much buzz, I though I’d give you guys another yummy lipgloss recipe, and this time it’s delicious cranberry! Here’s how to!

Step 1:
Take 1 tablespoon almond oil, 10 fresh cranberries, 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon petroleum jelly (optional – for more shine).
Step 2:
Mix together all ingredients and place in a microwave or heat-resistant container. Heat in the microwave or a water bath until the mixture just begins to boil (1-2 minutes in the microwave). Stir well and gently mash the berries. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Step 3:
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove all pieces of cranberry. Stir and allow to cool completely. When cool, spoon into a clean container.

Make Your Own Whipped Avocado Moisturizer

This is one of my absolute favorite moisturizers because not only is it fun, cheap, and easy to make, but it targets severe problem area such as rough knees, elbows, feet, or any other dry area. The ingredients used in this concoction are all natural and can be found at your local grocery or drug store. So here’s what you do!
Make Your Own Whipped Avocado Moisturizer
Ingredients:
1/4 or 1/4 mashed avocado
an egg yolk
a teaspoon of honey
a teaspoon of rice bran
10 drop of evening primrose tincture
Mix all the ingredients together and apply to rough or dry skin such as hands, feet, elbows, etc. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse. Your skin will feel silky soft as the avocado and egg nourishes dry, cracked, and wrinkled skin with proteins and oils. The rice bran gently exfoliates your skin, revealing new, soft skin.

Make Your Own Avocado Carrot Cream Mask

These days it can be hard to afford all the new, fancy beauty products that decorate the shelves, especially the good ones that contain natural ingredients and claim to do wonders. But why spend money on something that you can whip up at home? I mean let’s face it, you don’t even really know what’s in those products, plus you get rid of all the chemicals and extra gunk that’s not really needed. This is one of my absolute favorite face masks; the avocado carrot cream mask.
Avocado Carrot Cream Mask
This is the perfect mask for rebuilding skin collagen, improve tone and texture of skin and minimize age spots. So if the sun took a toll on your skin this summer, whip up this delicious mask and start feeling the benefits! Here’s what you’ll need:
1 avocado, mashed
1 cooked carrot, mashed
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons honey
Just combine all of the ingredients together and mix until creamy. Apply to your face and neck and relax for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water, pat dry, and apply your favorite toner and moisturizer. And voila, there ya have it, an otherwise pricey face mask for just a few dollars!

How to Fix Blotchy Skin

Posted by Jandika 11:11 PM, under | No comments

If you suffer from not-so-perfect skin (like moi!) you probably know the hardships you go through to get your skin looking presentable. Especially if you’ve ever suffered from acne, you know that the aftermath only leaves you with red, blotchy, uneven skin that can put a huge damper on your complexion.
Well, as I was a little bored last night I decided to whip up a homemade mask and I was looking particularly for something that would fix blotchy, uneven skin. And…I think I’ve found a new favorite! It’s easy, doesn’t require much and it WORKS!
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg white
  • juice from half a lemon
Directions:
  1. Beat egg white and squeeze the juice from half a lemon. Mix well.
  2. Apply to cleansed face and neck.
  3. Leave on for 15 minutes or even overnight.
  4. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
I left mine on overnight just so I could see the full effects and I definitely saw an improvement the next morning. This recipe is great for blotchy skin because the lemon juice works as a bleaching agent so the redness subsides quickly.

Homemade Mask for Dark Circles

Posted by Jandika 11:10 PM, under | No comments

Not getting enough sleep? Your eyes can definitely tell! Dark under eye circles are as annoying as can be, and applying concealer each and ever single morning can take a lot of your time. Instead of dishing out for an expensive eye cream, why not make your own at home?
I’ve used this homemade mask for dark circles for years now and it has made such a difference on my eyes! My dark circles are almost non-existent (except for those few days when I don’t get enough sleep!), and it’s all thanks to this homemade dark circle mask. All you need is a few ingredients and you’ve got a professional under-eye mask for dirt cheap. Here’s how to do it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil
  • 30 drops Nigella oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 2 tablespoons Horse Chestnut (Buckeye)

Directions:

Take all ingredients and throw them in a mixer. Mix well until it forms a paste. Apply the cream under your eyes and leave on for 30 minutes. For a super refreshing twist, refrigerate your paste first and then apply. Use this cream every day or every other day and start seeing results within just a week.
